A reputable Institution in the airline industry invites applications from suitably qualified Gambians to fill the vacant permanent positions.

These are senior management level positions and all report to the office of the Managing
Director. The grade level attached to the positions is 8/1 on the company pay scale.

The Director of Technical Services (DTS) is responsible for the entire management and maintenance of the company vehicles, plant and Machinery. He/She will also be responsible for the management of human resources within the engineering and technical service function areas.

A. Functions of the Job/Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate all activities of the directorate in collaboration with the Managing Director;
  2. Provide leadership and support to the engineering directorate linking with other Directorates in ensuring that efficient services are delivered to our customers;
  3. Responsible for the preparation of budgets, maintenance and work plans; setting up and monitoring performance targets for staff under their supervision;
  4. Responsible for supervising and monitoring staff performance within the department;
  5. Ensures that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and systems are in line with Manuals and IATA IGOM are adhered to in order to reduce safety risks and enhance compliance;
  6. Advise Management in the procurement and acquisition of vehicles, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and their maintenance schedules;
  7. Ensure that transport and equipment are up and running at all times within the organization to ensure effective and efficient operations;
  8. Drive continuous improvement and business development initiatives to improve processes and meet customer needs in the process of audit queries;
  9. Execute resource allocation to meet organizational objectives while achieving optimal utilization and quality;
  10. Develop and implement capacity building plans in consultation with the other relevant areas in ensuring competency is achieved for staff within the department;
  11. Perform any other duties in relation to the efficient functioning of the department as assigned by the Managing Director;

B. Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree in Engineering or Management with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or a related field from a recognised University and a cumulative professional work experience of at least 10 years.
  2. They must be proficient in Microsoft Office packages and any other engineering software packages.
  3. Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and good leadership qualities and the ability to manage teams effectively.

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for managing all IT and computer systems of the company as well as creating IT policies and strategy, implementing IT infrastructure and leveraging technology to help the institution achieve its objectives.

A. Functions of the Job/Duties and Responsibilities

The Specific duties of the post include the following: –

  1. Develop the organization’s IT vision and translating it into actionable goals focusing on scalability, security and efficiency;
  2. Lead the IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, manage and mentor staff by setting objectives and participate in their evaluations for continuous improvement;
  3. Participate in the IT budget formulations, ensuring cost effective allocation of resources and directing the sourcing and implementation of new software and hardware;
  4. Continuously assess and mitigate IT risks ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations and industry standards;
  5. Ensure that the security and protection of IT systems and data are properly maintained, continuously updated to safeguard against cyber threats;
  6. Ensure that the company’s IT infrastructure is operational at all times;
  7. Develop and Implement security policies, data protection measures, business continuity and disaster recovery plans;
  8. Coordinate IT activities to ensure the availability of network services and data;
  9. Oversee all IT projects from inception to completion ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and meet organizational standard requirements;
  10. Identify future challenges in the IT Landscape and develop mitigation strategies;
  11. Perform any other duties in relation to the efficient functioning of the department as assigned by the Managing Director;

B. Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Candidates for this position should possess a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Data Sciences from a recognized University with a minimum of 10 years relevant work experience in a leadership position designing and implementing IT Solutions.
  2. Experience in IT and cyber security and possess in-depth knowledge of Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Amadeus, Galileo etc and ability to solve real world IT challenges using emerging technologies will be an added advantage.
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to manage teams effectively are also essential requirements.

The Director will report functionally to the Board of Directors (through the Audit Committee) and administratively to the Managing Director. Will be responsible for providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations. Supports the achievement of strategic objectives by evaluating and improving the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and control processes. Also responsible for overseeing the internal audit function of the company and advising Senior Management and the Audit Committee on internal audit matters, as well as ensuring that the Internal Audit function operates in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

A. Functions of the Job/Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties for the role include:

  1. Responsible for the Planning and supervising the activities of the Internal Audit Department;
  2. Develop and oversee the implementation of the Internal Audit department’s yearly budget and the risk-based annual audit plan;
  3. Ensure that the organization complies with the relevant laws and standards, regulations, and internal policies;
  4. Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the organization’s governance, risk management, and internal control systems;
  5. Provide recommendations for strengthening internal controls, enhancing compliance, and improving business processes;
  6. Review and evaluate internal controls around disbursements to ensure compliance with policies and procedures;
  7. Design, update and implement sound internal controls and ensure compliance at all times;
  8. Review and issue timely, comprehensive, and value-adding audit reports to Senior Management and the Board (via the Audit Committee);
  9. Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and report progress to relevant stakeholders;
  10. Work with the identified external auditors during the statutory annual audits of the company and ensure that recommendations from their reports are implemented;
  11. Participate in the staff performance evaluations, providing guidance and coaching for improved performance within the department;
  12. Conducting Risk Assessment by Identifying areas of potential financial and operational risk within the organization;
  13. Collaborate with external auditors and other departments to facilitate audits and their outcomes;
  14. Evaluating compliance with aviation safety regulations and industry-specific risk management frameworks, in collaboration with regulatory bodies;
  15. Support enterprise risk management and fraud prevention programs where applicable;
  16. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Board or Managing Director, provided they do not impair audit independence or conflict with professional standards;

B. Qualifications and Experience

  1. Candidates for this position must be ACCA/CIA/CPA/CIMA qualified with 10 years post qualification experience in a senior Audit/Risk work environment. An MBA with specialization in Accounting, Auditing, Finance or its equivalent from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IPPF) or the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS 2024)’. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial management software.
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to manage teams effectively are also essential requirements.

The Director of Safety and Quality will be the head of the department and responsible for developing and ensuring the implementation of the management system for safety, quality, occupational health and environment as well as ensuring that the directorate is effectively run and managed to optimize the performance of staff.

A. Functions of the Job/Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties for the role:

  1. Ensure that there is clear definition of safety and quality responsibilities and delegation of accountability for safety and quality throughout the organization to achieve safe systems of work and compliance with both regulatory standards and organisation’s own performance standards;
  2. Establish procedures for reporting and rectifying occurrences deemed to be detrimental to safety and quality;
  3. Ensure the inclusion of safety and quality as a Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for both management and operational personnel;
  4. Conduct internal as well as arranging for external safety and quality audits and inspections as a key element of the safety and quality assurance programmes;
  5. Oversee the Quality Assurance program to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements;
  6. Measure safety and quality performance and report regularly to the Accountable Officer with a view to continuously improving and address pressing safety and quality concerns;
  7. Conduct incident and accident investigations and analysis to identify and communicate threats, errors, and violations in order to trigger corrective actions that will prevent reoccurrence;
  8. Manage and review the operation of the occupational health, safety quality and environment management system for continuous improvement by monitoring its performance against set parameters;
  9. Lead the independent process for performing gap analysis of the organizations safety and quality documentation systems and processes finding discrepancy and generates corrective actions;
  10. Direct and coordinate the implementation and execution of the company’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP);
  11. Ensure that all personnel within the department are trained to perform their jobs effectively;
  12. Manage the departmental budget/ resources and any other job-related functions to ensure effectiveness and efficiency;
  13. Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and safety;
  14. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the Quality Assurance programme. 7Ensure that all staff are adequately trained in safety procedures and quality standards;
  15. Promote a culture of safety and quality through regular communication and engagement with employees;
  16. Collaborate with other departments to ensure safety and quality objectives are integrated into all aspects of the airline’s operations;
  17. Perform any other job-related function assigned by the Managing Director;

B. Qualifications and Experience

  1. The candidate for this position must possess a Master’s degree in Aviation/Air Safety Management, Quality Management, Air Transport Management, Engineering with 10 years post qualification experience in a senior Safety, Quality, Audit or Risk-related work environment. An MBA with specialization in Air/Aviation Transport Management or its equivalent from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages and knowledge of Risk and Quality Management software packages will be an added advantage.
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to manage teams effectively are also essential requirements.
